People have moved on

After 6 months of volunteering people will have a review to look at what they would like to do next. Most people decide to remain volunteering taking on more responsibilities and hours; some will use the experience and skills they have gained to job search or study (guidance and support will be given).

A volunteer writes:

Since starting at the Ahoy Centre I have gone from strength to strength. I began with 2 days a week since then I have progressed and currently work everyday. At first I was very nervous but Sarah and Mandy made me feel very welcome and had no expectations of me.
Being at the Ahoy has given me back my life which I thought would never come. My self worth and confidence is growing day to day. To be part of a charity, helping people has helped me to move on.
Over the past few months I have been reducing my medication with the hope to have a child. I have not experienced any change in my moods, even with the big change in my life. The Ahoy Centre knows all about my illness, they accept me for who I am, not what condition I have. Mandy has offered me a paid position, starting with a months contract to see how I feel. I am hoping I can accept the position as I feel it would help me develop further and stay well.’
